Filming in Star Trek: Picard Season 2 began just days after production was suspended after more than 50 employees were found to have COVID. Star Trek: Picard officially relaunched after production was halted due to COVID-19 within days of recording.
Filming for the second season was suspended earlier in the week after more than 50 casts and the crew was found to be infected. Other exhibitions, including NCIS and the Chicago Fire, have also been interrupted from filming.
The sci-fi series starring Patrick Stewart is heavily filmed in Los Angeles, where a major spike has been recorded in the Omicron variation landscape. This is not the first delay that Picard has experienced, as the game was intended to be recorded in 2020 before the virus can continue its schedule in 2021. Season 3 Picard has also got the green light with shooting plans in line with Season 2. Both upcoming seasons are assisted by game developers Terry Mateus and Akiva Goldsman.
In a recent tweet from Mateus, it was confirmed that production has resumed on Picard. The post was accompanied by a screenshot labeled ‘EPS Network’ and what appears to be a Starfleet ship design.

With the new type of COVID still prevalent around the world and causing some disruption in the entertainment industry, it will still be seen if further delays will stall the release of Season 2 of Picard.
While it undoubtedly disappointed studios and fans, the postponement. Hopefully, this will garner audiences who are yearning for Star Trek, given the potential increase in your ratings for both Picard and Star Trek: Discovery.
Aside from other Season 2 delays, fans have reason to hope that the wait for Season 3 will be much shorter, as production moves to release in 2023 Slippery Slopes. Meanwhile, Season 2 of Star: Trek Picard is still due out on Paramount+ on February 1.
