Despite no official casting announcements, judging from the images posted on social media from the set and the limited information available, Helen George (Trixie), Leonie Elliott (Lucille), Jenny Agutter (Sister Julienne), Judy Parfitt, and Linda are expected to return to their roles.

Though we haven’t yet heard what could be in store for Nonnatus House, the show’s stars have promised that next season could bring some big changes.

In an interview with CBS News, Stephen McGann, who plays Dr. Turner on the series (and is Heidi Thomas’s husband), said that Season 11 will have a storyline with major consequences for all of the characters of the show. “It’s big, it’s brilliant, and it’s a real challenge,” he said.

We do have some ideas of historical events that the show might cover, but it is unclear what those challenges might be. Considering that each season covers a historical year, we have a few ideas.

It is likely that the season will take place in 1967 when several events that could be featured in the show occurred, including the legalization of abortion and the Sexual Offences Act 1967 which decriminalized “homosexual acts” between adult males.

The show has been known to tackle some challenging subjects in the past, so it is hardly surprising that some of these issues will be explored in its upcoming episodes.

The cast of Call the Midwife has teased that Matthew Aylward and Trixie Franklin will become closer in the new season.

Matthew’s wife Fiona, who gave birth at the Lady Emily Clinic in season 10, sadly died of acute myeloid leukemia shortly after giving birth to Matthew.

A shocking storyline left viewers   Emotional as the BBC’s much-loved period drama Call the Midwife was released on Sunday night.

A building that was about to be demolished was the place where Trixie and Matthew found the remains of the newborn. Further investigation was dealt with by Detective Sergeant Virginia Barrow, played by guest star Lu Corfield, who found that the baby was related to Mrs. Nyall, an elderly lady suffering from dementia whom we met earlier in the episode.

Having tracked Mrs. Nyall and her daughter, Marigold, to the house where the baby was discovered, DS Barrow visited Marigold along with Nurse Phyllis, and together they discovered that her mother had under the floorboards and inside the chimney delivered two babies, a secret the two of them had kept for more than 30  After Nurse Phyllis recalled seeing a cesarean scar on Mrs. Nyall’s abdomen at a previous    Possibly, she had a hysterectomy to save herself after the birth of Marigold and couldn’t have given birth to the other children.

After a ruinous scene, Marigold is told to have mothered the two infants and cleared it out,  that she had some sort of deal with a married man, who did exploit her for several years.

Marigold was released from jail without charge after it was revealed that both babies had died during childbirth.

Fans of the series have praised the series for handling sensitive and important issues, despite such a storyline.

The show has long been praised for coming up with such challenging subjects. During its six-season run, it has dealt with everything from spina bifida to tuberculosis to the sensitive subjects of female genital mutilation (FGM), and mental health.

During the season six finale, we witnessed a heartbreaking scene in which a young mother of three became ill and died after she was prescribed the contraceptive pill.

Call the Midwife Season 11 Upcoming Episodes

Radio Times

Call the Midwife’s most recent episode features a Mullock family whose adorable baby girl Susan was born without her limbs after taking thalidomide. In the original episodes from season five, viewers saw heartbreaking scenes of Susan’s birth.

In another season six episode, the drama turned its attention to the issue of Female Genital Mutilation, focusing on the story of a woman from Somalia who had been circumcised as a child.

It has been one of the most complex storylines of the whole six seasons. Sister Mary Cynthia’s struggle with mental illness is a great example of how the BBC series has thoughtfully explored the changing attitudes towards mental illness.
