Harlem Season 1: When Will It Be Released?

Harlem Season 1 Updates: Welcome to…And more, our no-nonsense, no-BS guide to when and where you can see upcoming movies and shows, as well as everything else you may want to know.)

There’s a new show coming to Amazon Prime that’s specifically for ambitious women in their 30s who are both blooming and failing in equal measure. Tracy Oliver’s “Harlem,” written by the author of “Girls Trip,” appears to be for anyone who likes romance, drama, and a splash of brutal realism.

This show will undoubtedly be one to watch, especially because it is situated in the namesake predominantly-Black NYC district (and undisputed hub of Black American culture) of Harlem. You’ll find all the details about the upcoming series below, including when it will be available to stream, who will star in it, and more.

It’s a tried-and-true notion that’s been given a much-needed makeover. Four best friends from Harlem, New York City, face the complications of their 30s, including relationship problems, difficult employment prospects, and the overall cacophony of city life. Camille, an adjunct anthropology professor at Columbia who specializes in cross-cultural dating habits but can’t seem to sort out her own love life, is one of them.

She is a successful businesswoman who established a lesbian dating app, but she refuses to let her guard down long enough to form a genuine connection with the right woman. Quinn, a fashion designer, is a hopeless romantic who frequently lets her naiveté get the best of her — but at least she has a substantial trust fund to fall back on.

Finally, there’s Angie, a talented singer/actress who takes advantage of Quinn’s inheritance by living with her as a rent-free roommate. Despite the fact that the four friends originate from different walks of life, their collective relationship is clearly stronger than any individual challenge the girls face.

There are a lot of famous faces in the cast of “Harlem,” as well as some standout lead performances. Megan Good, whose credits include the Southern gothic 1997 film “Eve’s Bayou” and the recent Fox TV series “Prodigal Son,” plays Camille. Finally, Shaniqua Shandai, whose voice you may recognize from her role as Sunstone on the animated Cartoon Network show “Steven Universe,” is joining the cast.

Camille’s recent ex-boyfriend Ian is played by Tyler Lepley (“P-Valley”). Camille’s intellectual idol Dr. Elsie Pruitt is played by Whoopi Goldberg, who is also in the cast. Jasmine Guy, Andrea Martin, Robert Richard, Juan Feliz, Kate Rockwell, and Sullivan Jones all appear in supporting roles.

Tracy Oliver, who previously authored the films “Barbershop: The Next Cut” (2016), “Girls Trip” (2017), and “Little,” is the creator of “Harlem” (2019). Oliver also has the distinction of co-creating and writing another hit television sitcom, BET’s “First Wives Club.”
