The Rescue Updates: The Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Aloe Blacc’s original song “Believe,” co-written with Gary Go and Daniel Pemberton, and the whole Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Academy Award-nominated composer Daniel Pemberton were also released today by Hollywood Records.
The Rescue premiered to acclaim at the Telluride Film Festival in 2021 and went on to win the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival the following year. Camden Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, Bend Film Festival, Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, and others have all earned audience prizes on the festival circuit.
The film debuted in theatres on October 8, 2021, and is one of only three documentaries to surpass $1 million in box office receipts this year. On Rotten Tomatoes, “The Rescue” has a perfect score and E.

Disney Music has published the film’s award-winning entire soundtrack, as well as the original song “Believe” by singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc. In 2021, he was nominated for his first Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Hear My Voice,” which he co-wrote with Celeste, as well as receiving Film Composer of the Year from the World Soundtrack Academy.

When the UK divers first see the boys in the cave, Rick Stanton just mouths the word ‘believe’ over and over in amazement and horror, and later when US Marine Derek Anderson asks, ‘What does the impossible look like?’ There are two significant moments in the film that we all found ourselves pulled to.
Working with Gary Go and Aloe Blacc to produce something that hopefully symbolizes that really rare time of worldwide joy and optimism has been a tremendous adventure.”
