Hawkeye: Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld Reactions to ‘Black Widow’ End Credits

Jeremy Renner Updates: The Hawkeye premiere is less than a week away, and the cast and crew visited the series’ Hollywood premiere to commemorate the occasion. There has been a lot of debate regarding what the series will focus on. There’s a lot to unpack from the numerous bits and promos that have been published so far, from its street-level crime tale to its Christmas setting to its classic buddy police dynamic between its two hot-headed stars.

However, Florence Pugh’s role as Yalena Belova in the new season has perhaps been the most talked-about topic. Yelena learned in the Black Widow end credit scene that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye was “responsible” for Black Widow’s death in Avengers: Endgame.

Renner, himself, is here to clear the air on the subject. “I was with my niece and [she’s] like ‘Uncle Jeremy, what did you do?'” Renner stated when questioned by Variety about his thoughts on that particular end credit scene at the premiere. “I’m sorry, but I didn’t do anything!” “I had no emotion, I was laughing at my niece,” he continued his amusing response. In the series, Hailee Steinfeld, who plays Kate Bishop, said: Pugh’s participation in the program has been kept under wraps thus far; all we know is that she is a part of it.

We don’t know how big or small her role will be, or how many episodes she’ll appear in, but the fact that she hasn’t been shown in any of the trailers or promotional material should give viewers the impression that she’ll only appear in one or two episodes. “One of our primary topics is showcasing what Clint’s struggling with emotionally from losing his best friend in Endgame,” executive producer Trinh Tran told Variety.

Yelena will almost certainly get into a battle with Hawkeye and shortly realize what transpired. By the end of the series, Hawkeye, Yelena, and Kate may form a team as a result of both heroes’ grieving processes.

Director Rhys Thomas danced around the subject of Yelena‘s involvement when speaking with Gameradar earlier this month, saying: Nonetheless, it looks like Hawkeye’s background as a Ronin isn’t the only thing coming back to haunt this Avenger.

Whether or whether he is to blame for Black Widow‘s death, Yelena appears to be actively involved in the plan to ruin Clint Barton’s Christmas. Hawkeye will air on Disney+ with its first two episodes on November 24, so we won’t have to wait long to find out what happens when these two experienced assassins meet.

The six action-packed holiday-filled episodes will star Steinfeld, Renner, Pugh, Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, Zach McClarnon, Brian d’ Arcy James, Linda Cardellini, and Fra Fee. Watch the video below to see the interview:
