Riverdale Season 6 Updates: Riverdale’s fifth season finished just a few minutes ago, but season 6 is already in the works. The Archie comics adaptation has gone well beyond anyone’s expectations, and a new batch of episodes will be released very soon.
Season 6 is significant for Riverdale in a number of ways. To begin with, the show will reach the 100-episode mark. Is it true that we’ve been watching it for so long? Wild!
It will also feature the much-anticipated Riverdale x Chilling Adventures of Sabrina crossover.

What occurred in Riverdale Season 5?
Starting with the gigantic 7-year time jump, Season 5 of Riverdale brought some pretty substantial changes for the show.
The trio went on to have less-than-successful lives after which they returned to Riverdale to cause more mayhem.
I’ll do my best to compress all of the craziness that goes on in Riverdale, but it’ll be impossible. (Warning: there are spoilers ahead!)
All season, FBI trainee Betty has been on the lookout for a serial killer who kidnapped her sister Polly. Betty finds her sister has been slain in a tragic turn of events and must come to terms with her loss. Riverdale is going through some tough circumstances right now.
After yet another season of Varchie, (boring) Veronica and Archie decide to call it quits and return to their old/new flames, Betty and Reggie.
The village evicts plotting criminal mastermind Hiram Lodge by brandishing multiple firearms at him and forcing him to take a humiliating stroll through the woods. The town then decides to re-incorporate.
We witness the Trash Bag Killer (I can’t make this stuff up) phone Betty remind her and everyone else that he still exists because there aren’t enough serial killers in her life.
Jughead has been up to no good this season, but the most important thing to know is that he’s now engaged to Tabitha Tate.
Toni has also had her baby (yay!) and has decided to pass on her Serpent leadership to Fangs. Oh, and she also loves him.
Then there’s Cheryl, who has the most bizarre narrative of them. Cheryl finds that one of her ancestors was burned at the stake for being a witch after unearthing a pile of dead in her family’s mines, and she demands an apology from their descendants (who are, of course, Betty, Archie, and Jughead). When she doesn’t get it, she decides to curse the town with her new witchy spiritual powers. It’s just Riverdale stuff.
Oh, and Hiram planted a bomb under Archie’s bed, which detonated just as he was kissing Betty (talk about a cockblock). Will they make it? We’ll have to wait till season 6 to see what happens.
What is going on in Riverdale Season 6?
The showrunner, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, is the first to drop some intriguing hints.
Riverdale season 6 appears to begin off just where season 5 left off, putting an end to the anguish over the bomb plot point that has us all up at night.
The first synopsis reads as follows:
A new day dawns in River VALE, where everything is as it should be, following the explosion that concluded Season Five. The town’s power couple is now Veronica and Reggie, while Jughead and Tabitha move in together. However, with Cheryl wanting a return to the “old ways,” this tranquility will undoubtedly be short-lived. And how did Archie and Betty manage to stay alive?

What about a Sabrina vs. Riverdale mashup?
You may have gotten a glimpse of Kiernan Shipka reprising his role as Sabrina Spellman in the clip above, and yes, Sabrina is returning to Riverdale.
While we don’t know how or why Sabrina is returning to Riverdale after the conclusion of CAOS, she appears to have arrived just in time.
Sabrina will make her debut in season 6 episode 4, titled ‘The Witching Hour.’
