Penny stated, “The conservatorship of Britney Jean Spears’ person and the estate is no longer required…is hereby terminated,” adding that the ruling is “effective today.” Britney’s request to be exempt from the evaluation was also granted Penny said, “The court decides that there was a consensual conservatorship in this case, and no capacity statement is required.”

Britney‘s 27-year-old fiancĂ©, Sam Asghari, reacted to the joyous news as well. “Today, history was written. “Britney is Free!” he captioned an image of the word “FREEDOM” on Instagram.

Britney has fought tirelessly for the last 13 years against the legal arrangement that has ruled her life. Jamie Spears, Britney’s father, was appointed conservator of her estate in 2008 but stepped down in August after Britney’s back-to-back court appearances and legal petitions.

The trust was subsequently taken over by certified public accountant John Zabel, who will continue onboard to monitor the transfer of assets and other trust-related activities.

Britney tried to employ her own lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, who was appointed over Sam Ingham in July 2021, as one of her numerous requests. Following Judge Penny’s decision, Rosengart spoke to the reporters outside. “Judge Penny decided to agree with Britney Spears, and the conservatorship has been dissolved as both her person and estate as of today, effectively immediately,” he told the gathering.

Britney has gone to court twice to present her case, alleging that her father “forced” her to work, that she was denied basic freedoms and grooming, and that she was unable to remove an IUD in order to have additional children.
