Idris Elba Sure About Upcoming Movie ‘Luther’ Has Begun With BTS Picture.

Idris Elba Updates: Idris Elba offered a thrilling update with Luther fans, revealing that filming on the Netflix sequel has begun in style.

On November 10, the actor, who has played the titular renegade detective on five seasons of the acclaimed BBC series, came to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes look from the set of the film.

Elba shared a photo from the set of a clapperboard from October 27, presumably his first day back in character.

He also posted a photo of himself in full costume with his feet. You may not be able to see his face, but Detective Chief Inspector John Luther’s attire is instantly recognizable: a grey wool coat with a red tie.

While narrative details for the film have yet to be announced, it’s safe to assume Luther will play a bigger role in a feature sponsored by Netflix.

“I’ve maintained that I’d want to see [Luther] come to a film,” Elba told Digital Spy and other press in 2020, before the official announcement of the picture.

“I believe we’re on our way to making a movie. That’s something I’m looking forward to doing. It is taking place!”

He continued, ” “The sky is the limit when it comes to movies. Obviously, the narratives can be a little bit more daring, perhaps multinational, and a little bit further up the scale. However, John Luther will always remain John Luther.”

Along with Elba, Lord of the Rings actor Andy Serkis plays the villain in Luther: The Movie. Cynthia Erivo, who starred in Harriet, will be Luther’s adversary. Is it a rival detective or a bad guy? Only time and possibly a few more set photos will reveal.
