Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth Reunite on the Set of Thor 4

Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth Updates: On the set of the latest Thor film, Thor: Love & Thunder, Chris Hemsworth, 38, and Natalie Portman, 40, got up close and personal.

The on-screen lovers may be seen holding hands as they settle into their respective roles as Thor and Jane Foster in the recently leaked photographs. The film is a direct sequel to Thor, Thor: The Dark World, and Thor: Ragnarok, and is directed by Taika Watiti, 46. Taika will reprise his role as Korg, which he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

As Chris returns for his fourth Thor picture, the latest Thor installment will be the sixth in Phase Four and the 29th overall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Natalie will reprise her role as Jane Foster in the film for the first time since Thor: The Dark World in 2013.

Jane takes on a considerably bigger role this time, as Mighty Thor, brandishing Mjolnir, the fabled hammer. When Natalie’s return to San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 was first announced, Taika gave some details: The filmmaker noted at the time, “That plot is full of emotion, love, and thunder, and introduces for the first time female Thor.”

Jane’s narrative in the future film is inspired by The Mighty Thor comic series, Natalie confirmed to Yahoo! in 2020, that she was “beginning to exercise” and “grow muscles” to prepare for the superhero role.

Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkryie, the new leader of New Asgard, also returns to the cast. Jaimie Alexander as Sif and Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster are rumored to be returning. Chris Pratt will play Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Karen Gillan will play Nebula, Pom Klementieff will play Mantis, Dave Bautista will play Drax, Sean Gunn will play Kraglin, and Vin Diesel will play Groot in Thor: Love & Thunder.

Furthermore, Christian Bale has joined the cast as Gorr the God Butcher, and Russell Crowe will appear as Zeus in a cameo. Asgardian actors Loki, Odin, and Thor will be played by Matt Damon, Sam Neill, and Luke Hemsworth, respectively. Melissa McCarthy will also reprise her role as Hela.
