This dragon is Alduin, the game’s final boss and its attack help Dragonborn escape alive from Helgen. Alduin, a powerful dragon in Elder Scrolls universe, is argued by many to be Akatosh, the head of the Nine Divines worshipped in Tamriel.

Well, these are just theories and we can only make more theories, although none of them have been proved yet. it stands to reason Alduin would save Dragonborn in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim’s prologue so that a mere human executioner could not take credit for his greatest kill.
