Sims 4 Updates: A new trailer for the upcoming Sims 4 Cottage Living expansion has revealed more information about farming, canning, cross-stitching, and animal care.
The Sims 4 team and EA have published a new video showcasing the material and gameplay that will be included in the forthcoming Expansion Pack, Cottage Living.
The upcoming pack adds new farming abilities and encourages players to live off the land. Players can make their own preserves, care for animals such as llamas, and raise their own veggies. Previous reveals of the pack have been well-received, with Sims fans already impressed by The Sims 4 Cottage Living.
Since the first release of The Sims 4 in 2014, there have been numerous new Packs and Kits released. These optional DLC packs provide new neighborhoods, gameplay components, Create-A-Sim items, and more. However, many fans believe the game’s gameplay requires considerable modifications, frequently comparing it to The Sims 3.
It is largely considered that the third mainstream chapter of the franchise had richer play experiences than its predecessor, with more playability possibilities and greater potential for storyline within the game.

Sims 4 Farming Activities
EA and the Sims team provide a deeper look at the features the pack will add in the latest Cottage Living video released on Twitter. Set in the imaginary realm of Henford-on-Bagley, the strongly British-inspired expansion promises a “cozy” experience, with well-to-do locals enjoying a drink or two in the local bar after shopping at a local fruit and vegetable stand.
The movie introduces canning, allowing Sims to make various custards, jams, and preserved veggies. It’s unclear whether canning will be a new skill or part of the existing Cooking skillset. Canned products can be used as a cooking ingredient, but they can also be sold or gifted instead.
The video also demonstrates how llamas, a new game element, maybe shaved for wool, which is then utilized for cross-stitching. Cross-stitching will most likely be comparable to the Knitting skill introduced in the Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack. Sims will be able to cross-stitch 34 different designs, and finished pieces are shown gracing the walls of a Sim’s home in the video.
Vegetable growing will also be a highlight of the Cottage Living bundle. Sims is shown cultivating pumpkins, eggplants, watermelons, and other crops in the new gameplay video. These, like previous Gardening projects, can be utilized in cooking or sold.
Another new Sims 4 feature is the Animal Shed, which can house cows and llamas. Sims is shown milking their cows, one of which has rainbow markings, while a llama is wearing sunglasses in the video. If larger animals aren’t your thing, a Chicken Coop will be added to the game, bringing both eggs and chicks. A toddler is shown holding the chicken in the Sims 4 Cottage Living trailer, implying that they will be more like a pet than merely an item.
The movie also described the Finchwick Fair, a competitive event. While information about the Fair’s gameplay is scarce, it appears to be comparable to existing City Living Festivals. In addition to the new gameplay mechanics, The Sims 4 Cottage Living will have cottagecore-style Build and Buy goods as well as many Create-A-Sim costumes.
