Sean Astin recalls “The Lord of Rings” terrible initial marketing

Sean Astin Updates: “The Lord of Rings” is an epic fantasy adventure film, which is made upon the novel written by J.R.R Tolkien. Sean Astin took the role of Sam Gamgee in “The Lord of Rings” and he gained 35 to 40 pounds for this role.

He recently remembered how the initial marketing for the movie “missed the mark.” It felt like the marketing fell flat and wasn’t having any idea.

Austin recalled, “I remember the initial marketing campaign sort of missed the mark, treated it as kind of a Dungeons & Dragons thematic approach, and missed the classical feel,” Astin told Deadline in an interview celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring.

Everyone in the production of the movie felt very bad as the marketing was really down. The movie seemed to be very risky and was very afraid about the release.

What Sean Astin Shared About The Lord of Ring?

Magic happened at Cannes Film Festival during which the marketing improved really well. Astin said,  “The Cannes Film Festival showed what we knew, that the film was spectacular and we had created something that would stand the test of time,”

The movie was directed by Peter Jackson.  The movie was based on a fantasy novel written by J. R. R.Tolkien an English author. The story was written in the year 1948 published in the Children’s book “The Hobbit”. It took Tolkien 12 years to write the story.

The movie is released between 2001-2003. It was a series of three named The Fellowship of Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002), and The Return of the King (2003).

Newline Cinema produced the movie with WingNut Films. The film had an incredible cast with Elijah Wood, Liv Tyler, and many more stars. The film was able to back many awards and nominations even though they had to face many breakouts.
