The actress is all geared up to release her first-ever comic book, M.O.M: Mother of Madness on July 21st. She has Korean with comic book writer Marguerite Bennett, who is known for her work on everything from Marvel Comics and Archie comics and Leila Leiz.
M.O.M: Mother of Madness is a three-issue mini-series that is going to be released under Image comics. The upcoming mini-series will tell the story of Maya, a single mother, chemical engineer and superhero, whose power derived from the menstrual cycle. While that sounds fun, Maya has a difficult balancing act trying to work, battle villains, and be there for her child Billy.
Clarke has continued to bring a very unique perspective to the table of everything that she works on. This very passion of her inspired her to look at places like comic con which are very often male-dominated spaces. She encouraged more women to give their best.
The creative team of M.O.M includes all the women, from Clarke & Bennett to Leila Leiz doing the image illustration, to Ratcliffe creating the cover art, and Isobel Richardson as a contributor.
During Zoom call with press, Clarke said, ” we were talking about how mums are like superheroes, women have this incredible ability to have so much going on and managed to achieve all those things. It’s almost superpowered.
