Dwayne Johnson Updates: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the most successful actors out there in Hollywood. He found fame first when he was wrestling in the WWE before he branched out in acting. Dwayne started his career in the WWF (now known as the WWE) while also wrestling for other promotions.

He officially signed for the company in 1996. He came into the community called Rocky Maivia. However, the name didn’t last long as he was soon known as The Rock. Today, we will see why he changed the name and the origin from where the name came into existence.

Dwayne’s father and grandfather were both wrestlers. They went by the name Peter Maivia and Rocky Johnson, so he decided to mix things up and name himself Rocky Maivia.

However. his clean and good-guy personality wasn’t exactly what fans wanted and they wanted someone with an edgier character. This dislike converted to hate and created a slogan, “Die, Rocky, Die!”, not really what Dwayne wanted.

At one point, he almost left the company due to hatred but hopefully, he was able to make the change to the character and making it exactly as the fans wanted him to be, and slowly and steadily the fans started liking his character.

Dwayne decided to make his character edgier. He adopted a more villainous character and started calling himself The Rock. He addressed himself in third-person and started to make electrifying promos. Attitude-wise, he became the most recognizable character in households alongside Stone Cold.

When he first started to act, he was not as famous as he is now. Many professionals also suggested he ditch the wrestling name and start calling himself Dwayne Johns0n.

Although after thinking for a while, he decided to stick to The Rock as his persona and he was right. He said to himself to not be ashamed of the past that made him. It was the right decision he made and correctly he slowly became the very well-known actor that he is now.
