The Lost Daughter Trailer Released & Everything we know so far

Published by

The Lost Daughter Updates: The Lost Daughter is a planned film based on Elena Ferrante’s 2006 novel of the same name. The plot revolves around a divorced woman who goes on a beach vacation after her children go in with their father.
However, things take a sinister turn when the presence of another family reminds her of a decision she made for her family and the long-term implications of that decision. Maggie, the Oscar-nominated actress, will star in the film.
Maggie Gyllenhaal will direct “The Lost Daughter,” but she has assembled an A-list ensemble to fill the screen. Leda, a college professor and divorced mother of two, will be played by Academy Award winner Olivia Colman. Nina, a young mother whose family Leda becomes obsessed with, is played by Dakota Johnson (“Fifty Shades of Grey”).
Jessie Buckley (“I’m Thinking of Ending Things”) will play a young Leda, Peter Sarsgaard (“Jackie”) will play Professor Hardy, Paul Mescal (“Normal People”) will play Will, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (“The Invisible Man”) will play Toni. The film also stars Ed Harris (“Westworld”) and Dagmara Domiczyk (“Succession”).

What’s on Netflix
Elena, Nina and Toni’s little daughter, will be played by a child actress in the main cast. The part was most likely awarded to a newbie, considering there was an open casting call for a girl between the ages of 3 and 5 last year.
The plot revolves around Leda, who feels strangely at ease now that she is free of the chains of parenting. According to a Netflix press release, Leda becomes obsessed with fellow mom Nina and her daughter Elena while watching them on the beach, obsessing over them and their boisterous extended family as she recalls her early motherhood days. Leda is drawn back into her own thoughts by an impulsive deed, where she must confront the “unconventional decisions she made as a young mother.”
“The Lost Daughter” will be released in select theatres on December 17, 2021 (via Indiewire). Then, on December 31, 2021, it will be available on Netflix, providing introverts worldwide the ideal excuse to stay in on New Year’s Eve.
