Shazam: Fury of the Gods Updates: Billy Batson’s second adventure is almost complete! Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg stated on Instagram that the superhero sequel is almost through production, with the superhero sequel taking longer than the 2019 original.
With production virtually completed, the picture should hit theatres in 2023, after the prequel/spinoff film Black Adam, which was released in 2022.
With a shot of his own director’s chair embossed with his complete name spelled out in the famous Shazam! The typeface, Sandberg revealed the film’s near-completion. In his blog entry, the filmmaker says, “Day 68.” “The original Shazam shoot lasted this many days. “On the verge of crossing the finish line!”
Over the previous several weeks, Sandberg has been documenting the development of the production on Instagram, releasing cryptic behind-the-scenes images of elements of the film’s set, as well as a first glimpse at the Batson siblings all “grown-up,” as it were.

Is this (potentially definitive) news implying that a trailer will be shown during the next DC FanDome event in October? The notion is very implausible given the film’s current release date of 2023 but in a movie universe full of youngsters who can change themselves into incredible superheroes? Stranger things have happened.
Fury of the Gods has a lot to live up to, with its predecessor making $366 million worldwide and maintaining a 90 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes since its debut in 2019. It will also be fighting for success following the release of Black Adam, a Dwayne Johnson-led prequel — though Sandberg has hinted that Black Adam may appear in Fury of the Gods.
Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Zegler, Helen Mirren, and Lucy Liu feature in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The sequel, directed by Sandberg and written by Henry Gayden, will be released in cinemas on June 2, 2023.
