Clarice Season 2 Canceled and Latest Details

Clarice Season 2 Updates: According to the sources, Clarice Season 2 will not be happening even though the show has not been officially canceled. Clarice offers a deep journey into the life of FBI agent Clarice Starling as she returns to the detective field in 1993 after the events of ” The Silence of The Lambs”.
Clarice’s vulnerability and strength attract all types of crazy people towards her. Her complex childhood creates a grit in her that helps her survive in what is essentially a man’s world.
Clarice is recruited by the FBI because of her talent in hunting down serial killers. She uncovers a line of murders but concludes that it is not the work of a serial killer, but something complex is at play which involves the murder of a pregnant woman who spoke out against a pharmaceutical giant.
Despite complications within the FBI, Clarice is in hot pursuit of the truth with the help of her mate Ardelia Mapp played by Devyn A. Tyler. Despite being in great danger herself, Clarice uncovers the secret plotted by Alastor Pharmaceuticals’ fearsome billionaire owner, Nils Hagen played by Peter McRobbie, and his son, Tyson Conway played by Douglas Smith.
Despite the fame from The Silence of The Lambs, Clarice failed to deliver ratings on CBS and according to the sources, the behind scenes conflicts will likely result in the cancellation of Season 2.
Even though Clarice is not officially called off, it will not make a return in CBS in fall 2021. Clarice was rated low and was the least-watched show on the network. However, it did pretty well streaming on Paramount+. Deadline reported that on May 14, Clarice was part of a deal that would bring Seal Team and Evil to become Paramount+ exclusives, but The Silence of the Lambs spinoff wasn’t officially announced as diving into the streaming service.

Clarice Season 2 Explained

ScreenRant
The issues between CBS/Paramount and MGM reportedly involve the latter balking at a lesser deal in financing the series, Paramount+ asking for a reduced episode count, and the complication that Clarice becoming a Paramount+ exclusive prevents it from seeking an off-network streaming deal.
In Season 1, we can see Agent Starling dealing with the two serial killers Buffalo Bill and Hannibal Lecter, with both of whom she has a dark history. For reasons mentioned, Hannibal is not seen in the Season but only briefly mentioned and the show mainly focuses on Buffalo Bill and the trauma he caused Starling.
Season 2 would most likely be a self-discovery on Starling’s part, dealing with herself, embracing and healing all her traumas. She also has a complicated relationship with the FBI whose trust and respect she earns later.
She also makes peace with Attorney General Ruth Martin and her daughter, Catherine, the traumatized last victim and survivor of Buffalo Bill. If there is a Season 2, then that will be a brand new mystery for Agent Starling to tackle, that is for sure.
