Shang-Chi: Is Captain America’s Shield Hiding in New Trailer?

Shang-Chi Updates: The second trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has arrived, bringing with it a plethora of Easter eggs and first looks. The return of Tim Roth’s Abomination, a villain last seen in Edward Norton’s The Incredible Hulk in 2008, came out of nowhere. In fact, the villain is pitted against another well-known figure — Benedict Wong’s sorcerer Wong from Marvel’s Doctor Strange series.
After seeing the recently released trailer for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, several fans grabbed a snapshot of a scene with a very identifiable Marvel artifact in the background.
Fans have begun to notice another potentially significant Easter egg at this moment, one that may or may not be Captain America’s shield. A shield may be seen on the right side of the screen as Abomination charges through Wong’s rune shields. The red and blue of the shields may be seen emerging out of the shadows about this time.
When the first trailer was released, some speculated that the shield might be seen in the backdrop of a similar scene – however that could have been the Madripoor flag. The evidence is at least a little more persuasive here because you can see some of the shield’s colors against the wall.

“Authenticity, respect, and remaining true to this genre was the major goal from day one,” first-time MCU director Destin Daniel Cretton recently told Empire about Shang-many Chi’s deadly hands of kung fu. “There is some choreography reminiscent of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, while other combat scenes are influenced by Jackie Chan. We also had mainland Chinese choreographers who created some stunning wuxia-style fight scenes.”
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz, with executive producers Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Charles Newirth. The screenplay for the picture, which is slated to be released on September 3rd, was written by David Callaham, Destin Daniel Cretton, and Andrew Lanham.
