Chicago Med season 7: Could a time jump be coming next season on Chicago Med?

Published by

Chicago Med season 7 Updates: The 3 One Chicago series finished their most recent seasons on NBC in May, and fans are still waiting to find out what happens next for Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. After all of the One Chicago cliffhangers, it’s never too early to start thinking about what’s next, and I’m wondering if Chicago Med really needs a time leap to start Season 7?
Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) dismissed Will (Nick Gehlfuss) for his participation in violating the drug study protocol. After learning that Will had been dismissed for her activities, Natalie (Torrey DeVitto) revealed the truth in the hopes of clearing Will’s record, putting her career in jeopardy.
Dean (Steven Weber) was placed in command of the ED as its interim chief while Ethan (Brian Tee) recovered from a near-fatal incident. Oh, and when the season came to a conclusion, Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) discovered her daughter had known the truth about their relationship from the minute she first stepped foot in Med and said she didn’t want anything to do with her.

When it comes to creating new seasons, Chicago Med has gone both ways, with some taking up precisely where the past season finale left off and others opting for a time leap. Based on the Season 6 conclusion, I can imagine Med starting Season 7 in any direction.
Besides, the casting announcement has already answered one of Season 6’s major cliffhangers, with the revelation that Nick Gehlfuss would reprise his role as Will Halstead. Furthermore, a time leap would allow Med to skip past Ethan’s weeks of recuperation after his gunshot wound. It would be interesting to watch a couple of episodes of Dean Archer’s ED to compare how Ethan managed the ship as Chief, but it would be a tragedy for Med to go too long without Brian Tee.
We also know that Guy Lockard’s Dr. Dylan Scott and Kristen Hager’s Dr. Stevie Hammer will be introduced in the next season. Given that Season 7 of Chicago Med will have to deal with these departures and newcomers, a short time leap may be utilized to explain Natalie and April’s absence as well as the entrance of Med’s two new physicians.
Of course, we’ll have to wait and see how the writers decide to start the next season, but it appears like a time leap isn’t out of the question at this point and may be used in Season 7.
