All About The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5

The Handmaid’s Tale isn’t just a story of a dystopian future; it’s also an abstract symbolic way of talking about the present. Season 2 of the show, based on Margaret Atwood’s novel makes it all the more brutal to imagine Gilead’s militant theocracy based on sex slavery coming to pass in the future.
And of course, there’s another important discussion to be had about horrific abuses of women that are going on right now in our world. But outside of those questions of more literal parallels, we can also watch the Handmaid’s Tale as an allegory for how gender relationships have long been codified in western society.
Even their clothing is color-coded. Women are no longer allowed to read or move about freely in public, and fertile women are subject to state-engineered rape to give birth to children for the regime.
