Black Widow Reveals How the MCU has Changed in Phase 4

MCU Phase 4 is turning up some new gears and Black Widow’s post-credits scene is proof of it. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is undoubtedly the best franchise in Hollywood and we can be sure that they will do all they can to sustain this status. MCU has successfully stepped into phase 4 and they are concentrating both on movies and TV shows that directly ties-up with the main storyline.
The Infinity saga came to an end in 2019 and the audience is very eager to see how Marvel is planning to march forward with its Universe. Since 2017, MCU has been releasing 3 movies per year and we cannot underestimate how difficult it will be for the MCU masterminds. Marvel just discontinued their old one-shots as they were too busy. The biggest puzzle prevailing in the minds of the audience is how Marvel is planning to cope up with the storyline of TV shows with the movies. The fans of the MCU are very much concerned about how they will ensure a consistent narrative through the films and TV shows while allowing the writers, directors, and showrunners a degree of flexibility?

Black Widow: How it changed MCU Phase 4

MCU Phase 4
As an answer to these questions, we can pinpoint the post-credit scene of Black Widow. Phase 1-3 of MCU was concentrated on Infinity Saga, whereas, with phase 4 Marvel is exploring a much bigger topic, “Multiverse”. Marvel has divided their project into “Sectors”, to cope up with the mammoth task they have taken. The sectors are carefully divided and connected by the MCU management, such that things won’t get too complicated. Some of the sections in MCU are,
“Contessa” Sector- Named after Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
The Multiverse Sector featuring Loki, WandaVision, and Marvel’s What if? Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to comes under this section.
The Marvels -Consisting of Secret Invasion and Ms. Marvel
This might be the approach that Marvel has planned at the beginning of Phase 4. They also planned to kick-start phase 4 with The Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 3.
“When we’re talking about Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and that story, that’s a story that will lead to other stories,” James Gunn explained back in 2017. “It’s innate to the DNA that’s the end of a trilogy but it’s the beginning of a whole other element of the Marvel Cosmic universe.”
The MCU’s new approach towards filmmaking is an efficient way to work on the increased workload. Marvel, currently has bigger expectations to be fulfilled and we can be sure that they are going on the right path. They might be limited overlap between the sectors, as we can see Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau was introduced in WandaVision and it is likely she will be in Marvel 2. Marvel is careful in interlinking the sector to give the viewers an illusion of the same world, but also, they are careful that this won’t be overwhelming for them. There is a high possibility that Marvel releases a major “Event” film every year for each sector. It is evident that Marvel is creating a sustainable base for their future projects and phase 4 will provide completely a different experience to their fans.
