Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection Coming To Steam With Valve’s Blessing

Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection, a fan-made game in the series, is launching on Steam and it is believed that the fans who developed the game had the go-ahead from the original developers, Valve. Half-Life is a much-loved series and fans had been hoping for a new game in the series since the release of the last game Half-Life: Alyx in 2020.
The loyal fans of the series have been clutching to the numbered titles in the series and have been patiently waiting for more. After the release of Half-Life: Alyx, the series was believed to have been abandoned by the developer Valve but the immense success seen by the latest title in the series sparked new hope for the franchise.
While it initially seemed like the game would go unnoticed since it was to be released on VR only, there was a spike in the sale of VR headsets since the announcement of Half-Life: Alyx. It showed how much the game was loved. Half-Life 3 is still a very anticipated title but it seems like the next title in the series would be a fan-made remaster of Half-Life 2.

Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection

A recent listing of Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection on Steam Database has started this speculation. The listing was spotted by industry insider Tyler McVicker. On Twitter, the leaker revealed that the title was developed by the same developer that brought us Half-Life 2:Update.
This means that the game is fan-made and does not come from the actual developers of the series, Valve. McVicker also revealed that the fans developing the Remastered Collection will also be working on an update along with the remaster of the game and its subsequent episodes. The fan-made remaster has apparently been consented to by Valve.
Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection is surely going to be a worthy addition to the titles as it comes from developer Filip Victor. Victor’s previous remaster Half-Life 2: Update was much loved by the players. Update first came out in 2015 and is a community-developed free Half-Life mod. The mod has fixed bugs, improved lighting, and added the feature of Community Commentary mode. Some fans of the game believe Update to be the best way to play Half-Life 2.
Half-Life 2 was originally launched in 2004. It has been years since its launch and it could do with some updated technical aspects. The remaster does not mean that the game will be rebuilt from scratch but players can expect improved graphics, textures, and load times. The release date for Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection is still unknown but the title’s listing on Steam Database indicates an imminent announcement by Valve.
