Ward and Rafe confess their misdeeds to Rose, and they prepare to go to the Bahamas to collect the gold. The island is then swarmed by cops. Ward intercepts Sarah’s effort to disclose the truth to Shoupe and the authorities, but she manages to get away from her father. The Pogues steal JJ’s father’s yacht, the Phantom, while John returns home to get the riches he secreted there.
In order to meet the others, John takes Shoupe’s police vehicle while searching his residence. Rafe and Barry assault the Pogues, but are overwhelmed by Pope’s surprise attack; in the process, Barry discovers that Rafe murdered the sheriff and suggests that he would use it to blackmail Rafe. As a tropical storm approaches, John and Sarah attempt to flee inland on the Phantom; however, their escape is quickly discovered.
Ward uses the “Phantom’s radio to persuade John to bring Sarah back if he genuinely loves her. Shoupe arrests Ward when John discloses Ward’s activities over the radio, but the Phantom capsizes in the storm, and John and Sarah are believed killed. John and Sarah escape the storm and are rescued by a passing cargo ship, as their friends grieve and Pope and Kiara begin dating.
