Dungeons & Dragons Feywild Now Has Domains Of Delight

Dungeons & Dragons Updates: Dungeons & Dragons have unveiled a slew of new facts about The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, its next adventure. Wizards of the Coast released many new facts about the adventure during a media event held earlier this week in advance of D&D Live, a two-day streaming event sponsored by the G4 network centered on the Dungeons & Dragons game and brand.

The Feywild, the magical world home to innumerable fairies, sprites, and other fey creatures, is the setting for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, a Level 1-8 campaign. Unlike most previous adventures, The Wild Beyond the Witchlight’s encounters may all be handled without resorting to battle, giving players the opportunity to navigate the adventure using their wits and roleplaying.

The new adventure begins during the Witchlight Carnival, which only happens every eight years. Mister Witch and Mister Light, two shader-kai who operate the carnival, are a reference to Ray Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes, which served as inspiration for the trip.

While the carnival has lots of NPCs and activities to pique players’ interest, it also serves as a portal to Prismeer, the Feywild Domain of Delight. Premier has seen better days, and if players wish to restore this section of the Feywild to its former glory, they’ll have to deal with the enigmatic Hourglass Coven.

The new adventure will also include guidelines for players to create characters from two new races: fairies and harengons, according to Wizards of the Coast (also known as rabbit folk.) Both races were seen in a playtest of Unearthed Arcana earlier this year.

The Feywild hobgoblin, a third species that debuted in the playtest, will not appear in The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, but will be kept for a future adventure. The campaign will also include two new character backgrounds: the Feylost, which is for characters who grew up in the Feywild, and the Witchlight Hand, which is for characters who work at the Witchlight Carnival.

The Feywild is being developed as a sort of counterpart to Ravenloft, a collection of demiplanes examined in Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft this year.

While Ravenloft has Domains of Dread where Darklords are imprisoned, the Feywild has Domains of Delight where archery governs. Butterfly wings are a frequent theme in the fey wild, and a displacer beast kitten named Star was shown off in artwork at the press event.
