GTA 6 Updates: GTA 6 rumors have been circulating for years, but in recent months, they’ve started to coalesce around a few key concepts. Notably, the best hypothesis at the moment is that the game will take place in modern-day Vice City. Another theory that has piqued fans’ interest is the game’s alleged release date, and what this may indicate for a PS5 and Xbox Series X release.

Given that Rockstar hasn’t officially stated anything about the game, that information should be regarded with a grain of salt. Of all, it is an admirable excuse to put off a game, especially given how often Rockstar has been accused of crunching in the past.

It begs the issue of when Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released on which platforms. If the game is released in 2024 or 2025, it will most likely be on PS5, Xbox One X, and PC. Given the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on almost every business, it wouldn’t be unexpected if Rockstar postponed the games to a later date.

Rockstar may declare a 2025 release date in the coming years, but that implies the game could still be delayed. Fans may recall that Red Dead Redemption 2 was initially scheduled for the second half of 2017, but was twice postponed. It’s possible that Grand Theft Auto 6 could face a similar fate, and fans will have to wait many years beyond the game’s reported release date.

Most likely, this does not imply that GTA 6 will be delayed so much that the game will not be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Before the next-gen consoles were released, the previous generation of consoles lasted seven years. Developers are still making cross-gen releases for those systems. At the very least, GTA 6 appears to be a cross-gen title.

It’s doubtful that Rockstar will wait fifteen years or more to produce a new game in its main brand. There’s simply too much money on the table for the developer. GTA 5 is one of the most popular video games ever. It would be a huge mistake for Rockstar to not follow up with a sequel in the next several years. With that in mind, it appears like Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released in the next several years.
