The Latest Update has brought Crossplay to Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 Originally released in September 2019, Borderlands’ latest update introduced cross-play to the game. The game had been a four-person co-op play for the longest time.

From June 24, crossplay became available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Mac, and Stadia. However, the latest update won’t favor PlayStation users as PS4 and PS5 are omitted from the supported platforms list.

It is a mystery why the crossplay feature is not available for PlayStation but according to Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford, the game’s publisher, 2K, making sure that the developer removed support for PlayStation before launching the update.

The update has gone live for supported platforms. Borderlands posted on their website instructing the players on how to go about the update. After installing the update, players will be given a prompt, allowing them the opportunity to set up a Crossplay Display Name.

According to Borderlands, the crossplay between the platforms is made possible by SHiFT Matchmaking. Once signed in, the players will be matched with other players of different platforms. One need not worry about choosing a new username so quickly as they will have the option to change it once they are signed in.

There are other updates on Borderlands 3 apart from Crossplay. A popular seasonal event The Revenge of the Cartels has made a return. There has been a new feature added to the game.

An option has been added to the main menu that makes seasonal events always available. Therefore, players can play the seasonal events anytime even if they are not in season. Players can revisit events such as Harvest, Broken Hearts Day, and the current Cartel event anytime and reap rewards all year round.

The Borderlands update brings the final True Trials mini-event which is designed to challenge only the best, high-leveled Vault Hunters. The levels of the game have also been increased by seven, up to a max level of 72. Crossplay is surely the highlight of this latest update of Borderlands 3 but Gearbox continues to bring about new content and let their players make more powerful characters.
