A Dragon Age 4 Appearance on PlayStation Store May Be Proof of Progress

A Dragon Age 4 file has been found on PlayStation Store which would mean that the game is in development and could soon get a release date.

The game file on the PlayStation Store would mean that the game’s development is further along than the fans thought. The game doesn’t have a released date as of yet but the file’s discovery points towards an imminent announcement from EA regarding the release date and even a playable alpha test.

A game is the first Dragon Age game in seven years after 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition. Not much has been revealed about the upcoming game but teaser trailers and tweets have revealed some details. A tweet by Christian Dailey, executive producer at BioWare suggested that Grey Wardens will be returning to center stage and the setting will be Tevinter Imperium.

The game is going to be a single-player RPG similar to its predecessors. In 2019, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed in an earnings call that the release date of A Dragon Age 4 will be some time after April 2022.

Therefore, it was surprising to find a game file on the PlayStation Store. It’s not possible that it would release so much earlier than its expected release date, but the file might suggest that a demo or playable alpha could soon be available on PlayStation.

A Twitter user discovered the alpha file for Dragon Age 4 within the PlayStation Store and tweeted about it claiming that the Alpha file will be available in July. It is not confirmed that the game will get a public alpha test but it is clear from the discovery that the game is reaching its final stages of early development.

Earlier this year, EA lifted the live-service multiplayer mandate on games. After the success of BioWare’s single-player adventure Star-Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, EA gave the studio permission to make the game a better single-player experience.

Many thought that the sudden shift in plans for Dragon Age 4 would mean that it will delay the release of the game but the newly-discovered file led them to change their mind.

Play Live which is to take place on July 22, will focus on Battlefield 2042 which is releasing this October. EA has not confirmed if it will show anything of Dragon Age 4 during Play Live but the newly-discovered alpha file of Dragon Age 4 might mean otherwise.
