New Shazam: Fury of the Gods set images to show Zachary Levi in a broken Shazam outfit. With Shazam!, Warner Bros. and DC Films made a concerted attempt to lighten the tone of the DC Extended Universe, and the 2019 superhero film proved to be a reasonably big blockbuster.
Since then, work on Shazam 2 has been ongoing, with the sequel projected to be much bigger than the original. It sees the return of Zachary Levi as Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) superhero alter ego Shazam, albeit with a new appearance.
Shazam’s outfit was completely revamped for Shazam: Fury of the Gods. The outfit keeps the all-red basic design but adds a new lightning bolt emblem to the chest. Shazam’s costume has been updated for Shazam 2, and he isn’t the only figure getting a makeover.
The whole Shazam family got new costumes for the sequel, which director David F. Sandberg officially announced ahead of set images disclosing the new looks. More set images reveal a new look at the outfit and its tattered state.

The latest Shazam 2 image comes from Twitter user @neorvng (via Murphy’s Multiverse), who happened to witness Levi in full Shazam costume racing along the street.

The nature of these Shazam 2 pictures makes it unclear what or who caused the damage to Shazam’s costume. The most plausible interpretation is that it has something to do with the film’s primary antagonists. Both Helen Mirren’s Hespera and Lucy Liu’s Kalypso are demi-gods capable of causing this degree of damage to Shazam’s outfit.
Because neither figure is from DC Comics, but rather from Greek mythology, it is uncertain what their powers will be. However, some form of magic is possible and might be the source of Shazam’s suit’s demise.
The reason for Shazam’s suit’s damage is yet unknown, but the fact that it is damaged at all is potentially telling. Even while Shazam faced the Seven Deadly Sins and Doctor Sivana, the costume never suffered any damage in the first film.
According to these set photographs, Shazam: Fury of the Gods will change that, establishing Hespera and Kalypso as much larger dangers to Shazam. It’s also conceivable that the damage done to Shazam’s suit is related to Billy Batson’s tale and having diminished powers for some reason.
