Transformers 7 Update: Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the next entry in the Transformers film franchise, will feature well-known Beast Wars characters. Steven Caple Jr. (Creed 2) will helm Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which will be set in New York in 1994. Anthony Ramos (In The Heights) and Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah) will feature in the film, with Peter Cullen repeating his role as Judas.

The Transformers brand has seen a number of various incarnations over the years, with the Beast Wars iteration of the characters including the progeny of the Autobots and Decepticons, the Maximals and Predacons, respectively, being one of the most popular among fans. Beast Wars: Transformers was one of the earliest computer-animated television shows, airing from 1996 until 1999.

A crossover will be featured in the third and final season of Transformers: War for Cybertron.

The Beast Wars’ 25th anniversary corresponds with the debut of the Maximals and Predacons in the Transformers film franchise. Prior to the news that characters from the Beast Wars storyline will appear in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Hasbro appeared to be striving to resuscitate the franchise. The third and final season of Transformers: War for Cybertron will contain a crossover.
