Reese Witherspoon Updates: Will we ever are able to quit marveling at how Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe’s DNA reproduced into their identical twins Ava and Deacon? Take, for example, Witherspoon’s Instagram photo from yesterday, which had followers wondering if she was with her kid or a time-traveling version of his father from the year 1999.

Witherspoon posted a selfie of herself and her 17-year-old son, who had his arm around her. The photograph gave off album cover ideas thanks to Witherspoon’s huge floppy hat and blue-and-white checkered dress, Deacon’s casual-cool white T-shirt and jacket, and the funky Instagram filter, so we can see why The Morning Show actress and producer put this as the caption:

“Making sure we get some good photo options in case [sic] we ever need an album cover for the mother x son band I’m trying to convince @Deaconphillippe to start with me,” she wrote, with a microphone emoji.

Fans immediately noticed how many deacons resembled his father, who previously featured in Big Sky. Compare Deacon to this vintage photo Phillippe provided of his first headshot if you’re still not persuaded. It must be strange to see a former version of yourself in your child, right?!

After interacting as co-stars on the set of Cruel Intentions, Reese and Ryan married in 1999 but separated in 2008. Ava, their 21-year-old daughter, was born the year they wedded, and Deacon was born in 2003. Witherspoon married talent agent Jim Toth in 2011, and the couple has an 8-year-old son named Tennessee. The mixed family is tight.

Deacon is already in the music industry, whether Witherspoon is kidding about creating a song with her model son, who recently walked in his first fashion show for Prada. He released his debut single, “Long Run,” in July 2020, which his mother dubbed “the song of the summer.” And, let’s be honest, the prospect of Witherspoon singing on one of his tunes is hard to resist.
