The Unicorn’s Walton Goggins Shares Extended Emotional Message Following CBS Cancellation

Published by

Walton Goggins Updates: The end of a television season is a bittersweet moment for fans since it brings both good and terrible news. On the plus side, it includes a flurry of new program announcements as well as renewal confirmations for current ones.

However, there is also cancellation news for other shows on the other side of the equation. Unfortunately, this was the situation with Walton Goggins’ The Unicorn, which was terminated after two seasons by CBS. Following the revelation, Goggins sent a lengthy and heartfelt statement to his fans.

Walton Goggins has always radiated a polite and courteous attitude in the past, and the letter he sent following the termination of The Unicorn follows that. The actor turned to Instagram to comment on the news and reflect on what he and the show’s creators intended to accomplish with it:

Walton Goggins as Wade on The Unicorn, a newly bereaved father who is urged to resume dating by his two children. And, to his surprise, his reputation as an entrepreneur and his love for his children make him a hot ticket in the dating scene.

The program was extremely personal for Goggins, who had gone through a similar scenario, and he expressed his thanks to CBS and the cast and crew for their assistance in helping him share this tale later in his post:

“To my showrunners, my cast, and crew… there are no words to express the gratitude I have for you, for showing up every day and coming from your heart. I love you. We made a half-hour without ever writing a joke! And to CBS… for your support…for letting us tell this story our way. It’s an experience I’ll never forget.”

During its two-season run, The Unicorn had a tiny but dedicated audience, and as Walton Goggins stated, many people identified with his persona and the show. Before its run ended in March, the musical received mainly good reviews from reviewers.

There was a lot to appreciate about The Unicorn, whether it was the show’s study of what it’s like to grieve and move on after the death of a spouse or its lighter comedy.

Fans of Justified were undoubtedly ecstatic to see Walton Goggins reconnect with Natalie Zea. Fans will undoubtedly miss the show, and its popularity may lead to it being remembered as one of those underappreciated television treasures.
