MCU Theory: Doctor Strange 2 & WandaVision’s Real Villain (Not Mephisto)

Doctor Strange 2 Updates: With all of the significant events that occurred in WandaVision, one can only speculate on what the ramifications will be for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future.

Following the series’ end, fans have already rushed to the internet to speculate about the next projects, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness being a hot subject, owing to the film’s clear connection to the events of WandaVision.

Of course, like with every superhero film, a villain is required, and while some have theorized that the enemy in Multiverse of Madness will be Agatha Harkness, this may not be the case.

The Scarlet Witch was seen in a lonely mountain region in a small cottage in the post-credits sequence of WandaVision’s last episode, “The Series Finale.” In a surprising turn of events, Wanda’s children’s voices can be heard when she projects her astral form while seeking to uncover the secrets of the Darkhold.

Doctor Strange, as the defender of worlds, will see this and know Wanda is the root of the problem. And if that’s the case, Strange won’t be aiding Wanda in her quest for the twins; instead, he’ll be attempting to repair the broken worlds.

Doctor Strange 2 Real Villain

He looked to be set up to be the villain in Multiverse of Madness in that film, and he may still be in this hypothesis. Mordo might make use of the shattered reality, or even a desperate Wanda, to achieve his own objectives.

He claimed in Doctor Strange that the world had “too many sorcerers,” thus it stands to reason that he may utilize his “madness” to eliminate other magic-users, or perhaps challenge Strange for the title of Sorcerer Supreme.

Furthermore, the idea claims that Wanda will ultimately understand she is being misled by Mephisto or Nightmare. She rips down whatever barrier is keeping them out of their world with her chaos magic, causing catastrophic havoc.

This is what Agatha meant when she stated Wanda would kill the planet; Wanda will not destroy the world herself, but her chaos magic will release a force that will.

Wanda as Doctor Strange’s “enemy” in the Multiverse of Madness makes perfect sense. Wanda will stop at nothing to locate her children, even if it means inflicting immense damage since she is still mourning and trying to reclaim some semblance of the beautiful life she built.

As she deals with her grief, she’ll play an unorthodox, sympathetic villain, and Strange will appear to clean up the wreckage she’s caused rather than fight her.
