Batwoman Season 2 Episode 17 ‘Kane, Kate’ Recap & Spoilers

Published by

Batwoman Season 2 Updates: “Kane, Kate,” the last episode of Batwoman’s second season, deepens the rivalry between Ryan and Kate Kane, aka Circe Sionis. Perhaps she doesn’t even know, and the only way to separate her conflicting identities is through Alice’s aid, who is coping with her own personal dilemma here after losing Ocean to Safiyah.

Alice appears to be on the verge of a redemption storyline, however, her interactions with Mary in Batwoman season 2, episode 17 are a little strange, and the idea that everyone can just leave bygones be bygones is a little far-fetched.

The same may be true about resurrecting Kate’s persona. This isn’t a simple problem to solve. She has gone through a great deal of trauma, even if it wasn’t due to the multiple personality indoctrination. This emphasizes the disparity between Ryan’s and Luke’s points of view.

The former, perhaps fearful of losing the Batwoman mantle if Kate regains her identity, is adamant that she can’t possibly be the same as she once was; the latter, blinded by his love for Kate, is adamant that she can, and that Kate’s old journals – which you may recall from the first season, and which were usually read aloud to end episodes – will bring her memories back.

Nerds and Beyond

Kate/Circe immediately returns the journals to Roman Sionis, which is terrible news and probably another step on Luke’s vigilantism ladder. Speaking of Roman, has a bit more to do in Batwoman season 2, episode 17, as he tries to enlist the help of several corrupt cops, notably Agent Tavaroff.

It compels Ryan to acknowledge becoming Batwoman once more, this time to her parole officer, which is significant given her ongoing struggle with the notion as a result of Kate’s reappearance. It does, however, get her out of the way. Without her, the rest of the Bat-team turns to Kate, who calms Mary, Luke, and Sophie and begins investigating as soon as she is granted entry to the Batcave.

Season 2, Episode 17 is simply the finale episode, and it’s all about the conclusion. Circe’s access to the Batcave means that all kinds of wonderful stuff, from Poison Ivy’s ivy to Bane’s poison, is now out in the wild. Alice foils Safiyah’s plot by stabbing her with her Desert Rose dagger, rendering her unconscious but allowing her to suffer.

With Alice virtually automatically joining Team Bat and Luke’s shift to Batwing just around the corner, one can’t help but feel like “Kane, Kate” is coming to a close. It’ll be fascinating to watch what happens in next week’s show.
