Ozark Season 4: What is in store for the Byrde family?

Published by

Ozark Season 4:  Ozark, with its epic storyline and excellent acting, has had fans hooked since its premiere in July 2017. With three seasons already out, fans have been continually asking for the fourth installment.

The show follows a financial planner, Marty Byrde (played by Jason Bateman), who is forced to relocate to Ozark from Chicago and settle there along with his family of four after a money laundering seal goes wrong. With their safety at stake, the family cuts a deal with a Mexican drug lord to keep them safe. Living in a summer resort community with their fate hanging in the balance, the family is forced to reconnect.

The series, created by Bill Dubuque (“The Accountant,” “The Judge”), has had three very successful seasons with an IMDb rating of 8.4/10. The show received four nominations at the Golden Globes this year and Julia Garner (who plays Ruth Langmore) bagged the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 2020 Emmy Awards.

Ozark Season 4: Is Jonah leaving his family?

Marty Byrde and their wife Wendy’s son, Jonah (played by Skylar Gaertner), have had quite a transformative journey throughout the three seasons. Season one saw him as a naïve schoolboy annoyed at being relocated by his parents out of the blue to becoming a tech-savvy teenager setting up an illegal bank account.

Even though he has gone through so much in the previous seasons, the third season seemed like quite a test for him as the finale showed his discovering the truth behind his uncle Ben Davis’ (played by Tom Pelphrey) death.

After learning how his own mother was involved in killing her brother and his beloved uncle, Jonah shot up their family home in the season finale, signifying that he had had enough of his parents’ criminal activities and perpetual lies.

In a recent interview with Starry Mag, Gaertner revealed that there might be a huge change in Jonah’s relations with his family. He said that Jonah had always been “at crossroads” with his family but always stuck by them. However, this new piece of information could “topple all of that.”

It remains to be seen if Jonah would actually leave his family and their ways behind and set out on his own or will he continue staying by their side.
