Axiom Verge 2 Delayed Again To End Of 2021

Axiom Verge 2 Updates: The much-awaited Axiom Verge 2 has been delayed again, this time to the end of 2021. Developer, Tomas Happ had announced the release in the first half of this year, but they have already missed that window. To make up for this delay, a full “making-of” documentary of the game was released and available for free.

Sequel to the much-appreciated game, Axiom Verge,  the second title is an indie Metroidvania game. The term Metroidvania refers to the genre of games having similar game design and mechanics to the classic titles, Metroid and Castlevania.

These games generally present a two-dimensional world with large interconnected maps where players can progress with play. As players proceed, they access newer terrains, abilities, and villains. Judging from the documentary released on Axiom Verge 2 it appears the title will feature a lot of these elements too.

What’s The Delay Of Axiom Verge 2 About?

Much hasn’t been said by the developer, Tomas Happ on the delay or its the reason. But according to IGN, the game has been delayed to the third quarter of this year.

It can only be assumed that Happ needs more time to work on the game as this is the second delay of release. It is speculated that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on working and development. And it seems a good idea to work more on a delayed-release, than producing a hurried game.

As of now, the only thing available for Axiom Verge 2 is the documentary released by 2 Player Productions. It has certainly gotten players and fans excited as the game looks set to bring in a lot more thrill and adventure.

The making-of documentary can be purchased via Blu-ray disc as a part of the Axiom Verge: Multiverse Edition bundle. It is also available to view for free on the Axiom Verge Steam page.

Axiom Verge 2 looks set to be released on Nintendo Switch and PC. Unlike the first part, no information on release on other consoled like Wii U and PlayStation Vita has been given. The delay could also be to get a PS5 and Xbox port for the console, according to some. Stay tuned for more as we get closer to the release date later this year.
