When FF7 Remake Part 2 Might Be Released

FF7 Remake Part 2 Updates: Square Enix has decided to avoid making a similar copy of the original 1997 game with the long-awaited Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Though FF7 Remake Part 2 is in the works, it may ship earlier than expected – but not as soon as fans would like.

The first part of this FF7 remake though took quite some time to arrive. It took so much time despite using Epic’s off-the-shelf Unreal Engine 4 to prevent the added work of a custom engine.

In July 2020, a Famitsu interview was taken with Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura, as spotted by VGC. Nomura told that the game was in full production and said that the company was trying to “get it out as soon as possible” – probably in a shorter timeframe than five years.

This interview has become the key to predicting the release date for the FF7 remake Part 2. The biggest challenge for the developers should be the gameplay content since most of the art assets and engine technology are already in place. There is the possibility of the game launching in 2022.

While the release date is still looking far away, there are some factors that are preventing FF7 Remake Part 2 from shipping in 2021 itself. In fact, these factors may even push the launch as far as 2023.

Firstly, Square Enix isn’t done with part one, it’s on the verge of releasing the free Intergrade update for PS5 owners, and that version’s exclusive INTERmission DLC, starring Yuffie Kisaragi.

Square Enix also continues to deal with remote work as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The situation is very acute, especially in Japan. Japan has miserably lagged behind other countries in vaccinating the public.

Even the western developers have been forced to delay their games, like Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy, and they won’t be able to deliver their games in 2021.

It may be said that the FF7 Remake part 2 may release in the Fall of 2022. But we are not sure yet. Maybe Square Enix has been preparing for a surprise launch, who knows? Square Enix has confirmed to tease the Remake on June, 12. Hope we get some concrete info this time!
