WF-1000XM4 Rumor & Leak Roundup: What To Expect With Sony’s 2021 Earbuds

WF-1000XM4 Updates: Sony is back in the business of truly wireless earbuds with its WF-1000XM4. The new buds are set to offer an improved sleek look, better Bluetooth, and much more.

Though Apple’s AirPods are considered the front runners when it comes to truly wireless earbuds, Sony has established itself as a very credible force as well.

The WF-1000XM3 released by Sony in 2019 was a long ago, but those earbuds are still considered as good as they get for that money. With incredible sound, amazing noise cancellation, and many other features, they have withstood the test of time pretty well. Now as we enter 2021, Sony is ready to introduce the new WF-1000XM4 earbuds.

Sony WF-1000XM4 Rumors & Leaks

Now we come to the speculations regarding price. When Sony’s WF-1000XM3 was launched in the US, it was priced at $230. Considering the WF-1000XM4 is going to be an upgrade, if not the same, the price too can be considered similar.

More information can be expected at the live stream to be hosted by Sony on June 9 at 12:00 PM ET / 9:00 AM PT. Though the earbuds haven’t been mentioned in the stream description, the branding was intuitive. “Truly Silent. Tailored 4 you” – surely hints at the bud’s ANC feature and the “4” is suggestive of WF-1000XM4 too.

Design & Other Features

ScreenRant

As perfect as WF-1000XM3 was, a lot of users complained about its bulky design. And from the renders leaked, looks like the makers at Sony certainly got the feedback.

High-res renders of WF-1000XM4 leaked by Evan Blass in May showed much smaller and rounder-shaped earbuds. They also had memory foam at the tips right out of the box.

Along with the design, the WF-1000XM4 will have also have an entirely functional back touch side that can be used for hand gestures. Also, the included charging case will be more compact. An FCC filing for the buds hinted at the use of Bluetooth 5.2 standard.

This feature is set to give better battery life and stronger connectivity. Another report from WinFuture suggested the battery life of WF-1000XM4 to be 12 hours and 8 hours with ANC turned on. To add, the earbuds are expected to have support for LDAC, which is Sony’s high-res audio standard.

Thus, Sony’s WF-1000XM4 is set to give Apple’s AirPods tough competition. They might turn out to be the best earbuds in 2021. That may come at a price, but for music lovers, the WF-1000XM4 is something to look out for.
