Matrix 4 Had To Spend $420,000 Just To Film In San Francisco

Matrix 4 Updates: That’s a strange news on first sight. The Matrix 4 reportedly had to spend almost $420,000 just to film in San Francisco. Warner Bros. has officially announced this project back in August of 2019.

Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss would play their original roles of Neo and Trinity from the original trilogy. But the co-creator and director of the trilogy, Lily Wachowski, will not be there this time.

Lily’s sibling Lana, will be helming a Matrix film alone for the first time. The script has been authorized by Lana alongside two novelists, Aleksander Hemon and David Mitchell.

If we talk about the filming and shooting of the fourth iteration, it started in early 2020. Though due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it had to be put on an indefinite hold. But the production has resumed and now it has even finished, reportedly.

It would be released later this year. Fans would be quite happy to know that all the work has been completed, and so it would now be released soon.

About the casting, Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Niobe will be featuring with newcomers like Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Jessica Henwick, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Jonathan Groff. Laurence Fishburne, who was a real star in the show, and had a big role to play in the original trilogy, will not be featuring in the Matrix 4.

Yes, that is true! According to SFGATE, Adobe Pictures paid the Police Department of San Francisco a sum of $424,000 for their services. This Fourth film in the series began its production back in the month of February in 2020.

The project was officially known as “Project Ice Cream”. The identity of the project had been kept secret. Though it got revealed a while later, after public sightings of Keanu Reeves, his stunt double flying on a zip line, and the stunts in low-flying helicopters came out.

When production of a blockbuster like The Matrix 4 takes place in a populated city at such a high level, the police department needs to step in to ensure bystanders don’t get in the way of shooting and production.

While it was expected to be a 4-day shoot, it ended up taking 21 days, which increased the sum of money. Though its sure that the money won’t go waste, as fans would be amazed by the scenes of San Francisco which would feature in the film.
