Dying Light 2 Branching Storyline Explained By Developer

Published by

Dying Light 2 Updates: During Dying Daylight 2 big announcements today, Techland unleashed a flurry of details, which included new information about the sequel’s split storyline.

As promised earlier, developer Techland hosted a stream for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, the crew explained the details on what the players should anticipate from the split story narrative.

Fans of the nascent zombie franchise have waited patiently long enough for this day, especially since Techland has largely remained low and quiet about the sequel for well over a year.

Well, the wait was over for the fans as, earlier this morning, in lead up to the broadcast premiere, a few details emerged online making rounds on the internet.

Notably, a leaked advertisement indicated Techland had long waited for the Dying Light sequel scheduled for a release in December 2021 on PC, current–generation, and last–generation hardware consoles. Several details also emerged from the digital showcase as well.

The Daylight developers shared a breakdown of the game’s choice and consequence-based split storylines. According to Game designer Michal Dudziask, every player choice will be based upon three layers.

First, the decisions which were made by the player during the main story affect the game as a whole – the ending included. The second layer comes into play due to the choices made in individual quests that influence the mission itself. Dying Light 2’s “City Alignment System” makes up for the final layer.

Dudziak said restoring water or electricity to one part of an open-world city will culminate in players assigning the renewed area to a fraction of their choice. As every faction does have its own unique abilities, these particular decisions will inform which equipments players will unlock.

And also thanks to Daylight 2’s four-player cooperative option, users will be able to see how their friend’s city differs from theirs while teaming up.

This does indicate that Dying Daylight 2 has mare more ambitious plans, which explains Techland’s request for fans to remain patient. Based on what is shown thus far, the wait will be worth the while.

Techland did announce the Dying Daylight 2 back in 2018, but a lot has changed since then over the period of three years.

The hardware from Microsoft and Sony has unleashed a new console generation, and it appears the sequel of the Dying Daylight team of developers will take advantage of the new hardware for a better gaming experience for the gamers.
