Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance Will Add Local Co-Op After Launch

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance Updates: The developers of Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance has revealed that local co-op is coming soon to the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game.

The game will receive split-screen local co-op in a post-launch update. The launch version of the game though will feature both single-player and online multiplayer modes.

Dark Alliance is an upcoming action RPG game. It stars the Companions of the Hall, who are one of the most famous heroes of the D and D Forgotten realms campaign setting.

The story is about Drizzt Do’Urden, who must return to the frozen land of Icewind Dale. He had buried an ancient magic artifact there, beneath an avalanche. The thing had been done to keep its power out of the hands of those who would use it for evil. And basically, the titular “Dark Alliance” refers to that group seeking to free that artifact and steal its power. And so Drizzt and his allies must battle an entire army of monsters in order to stop them from claiming the artifact.

There is a way to play Dark Alliance with friends at the launch. That is through its online multiplayer mode. This online multiplayer has to potential to support up to four players. The developers there did address the lack of local co-op during a Livestream that happened recently. This was also told about in a post on the official Dark Alliance Twitter handle.

Local split-screen co-op for two players will come to the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game. It is coming this summer. If we assume the announcement to be true, the local co-op will be the developers’ “main priority”.

Now the difference in the versions of the game means that the update won’t be coming to the PS4 or Xbox One versions of Dark Alliance. The probable reason behind this is hardware limitations, as split-screen can be a huge drain on resources. Local co-op won’t be available on every version of the game, but it might not be feasible on new hardware, and so the decision seems justifiable.

Recently, it was also revealed that an update will be released alongside the first free DLC for the game. This may indicate that a paid DLC might also be coming in the future. We’ll have to see how it all goes.
