Apple May Have Shrunk The Apple iPhone 13 Notch

Apple iPhone 13 Updates: Reportedly it may be true that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 13 is getting a smaller notch. This is lead by having smaller Face ID components and a new placement for the earpiece speaker. How exactly is Apple achieving this? Few specific leaks have rendered a clear idea about it.

This worldwide famous company releases a new iPhone each and every year. For 2021 it will be the iPhone 13. I will bring out a total of four models. The iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Some of the updates of this release include an A15 processor, 120Hz displays for the Pro variants, and improved cameras. It is expected to reduce its Face ID notch size. The notch design remained the same as of iPhone X from 2017 until now.

Apple is making this possible in two main ways, the first of which being reduced die size for the VCSEL chips needed for Face ID’s 3D sensors. As reported by  DigiTimes, the die size is reduced between 40 and 50 percent compared to the iPhone 12. Apart from this, they are replacing the earpiece speaker from the center of the notch to the top frame of the iPhone 13.

A Smaller Apple iPhone 13 -What It Means For Users?

Even after reducing some of the internals by half their previous size, if Face ID continues to be as fast and accurate as it is today, it will surely be of a great deal. A smaller version of the previous model also means that users will get more display area that isn’t hidden by the notch. tMay be the smaller notch will be giving iPhone 13 a whole different aesthetic look compared to previous models. As we know many of Apple’s design improvements are done to make its new products look different than the old ones, so a smaller notch is definitely one way to do that.
