PlayStation 5 Rebuilt In Smaller, Stealthy Version

PlayStation 5 Updates: Since its introduction in November last year, the PS5 has grown in popularity. With stocks running out within minutes of being replenished, the PS5 is one of the most sought-after video game consoles currently on the market. A common complaint that various fans have about the system is the exterior design.

The design of the PS5 console has been a topic of debate since it was released last year. When it was first revealed, the console design of the PS5 was exposed to many memes that portrayed it both positively and negatively. In some ways, the PS5’s design is stylish and unique, but some fans find the console bulky and difficult to store. However, one user managed to redesign the PS5 to be around a third of its original size.

The YouTube channel DIY Perks posted a video in which an entire PS5 was dismantled and only the core of the console remained. Matthew Perks later rebuilt the internals so that it was “almost as thin as a laptop,” despite finding the need for the heat sink, which takes up most of the space.

The new console base is made of real carbon fiber and is cut into shape. When plugging in the fan, Perks followed Sony’s lead and used foam to direct the airflow.

The new front, back and sides are made from American dark walnut and sanded and polished to create a darker, more vibrant feel. The wood also has all the ventilation slots, connections and the switched off power switch, for which a complete cutout is still possible.

Then the converted PS5 is covered in carbon fiber with some fancy honeycomb hexagons cut out to aid ventilation. The end result is a nice, nice looking PS5 that is much smaller.

Perks shows that this modified version of the console works “just as audibly” when tested and thinks it works as it should.

This isn’t Perks’ first trip to re-create the PS5 as we’ve seen the console transform from its usual white panels and black center to a bronze version of itself.
