The show explores the ups and downs of middle-class parenting, based in London. The leading cast member is Like of Duty star Anna Maxwell Martin as Julia. Liz (played by Diane Morgan), Kevin (played by Paul Ready), and Amanda (played by Lucy Punch) also star in the show.
The usual trials and tribulations such as the schooling of children and relationships with other parents are faced by the cast in the show.

Shooting locations include the Action and Chiswick areas of West London and the part of school if filmed at the Southfield Primary School, located at Bedford Park in London.
Now a local museum, the Action, in the London borough of Ealing is mainly known for the Rothschild family mansion and Gunnersbury Park.
The area of Chiswick, known to attract media and creative professionals is another affluent district in London.
The district is also the former home to William Hogarth, the 18th century English artist.

EXPENSIVE AND BUDGET of Motherland Season 3

Broadcast explained that this comedy series was more expensive than other comedy series as the Motherland was all shot on the location. They needed lots of mums and also masses of children to give the real taste to the school-gate drop-offs, birthday parties, and swimming pool gatherings.
Taking experience in creating series from her personal life being a new mother, writer Helen Linehan said she had no idea she would have to give so much attention to detail.
She added that if we pay attention, we would find a logo for the made-up school designed by the art department.
A guest appearance by actress Joanna Lumley would appear in the third episode of the season which will be airing today (24th May).

She added that Liz and Kevin are trying to avoid mum stuff altogether with a trip to the countryside, Anne is beside herself with excitement at the prospect of a day out with her Mammy and Felicity (played by Lumley), mother of Amanda, travels from Cheltenham for a gloriously passive-aggressive celebratory lunch.
