The show was originally based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth who worked with the community of St John the divine, but after the show’s immense success, the story moved beyond the memoirs and kept adding more to it to keep it going.

The show mostly runs around the midwives and their everyday activities, with the historical events of that time, affecting their domestic lives in one way or another. The show has successfully been running for 10 years now and the season 10 finale would be aired next week.

Now, up until now, in season 10, we have seen Nonnatus House’s struggles as it tries to come in terms with the revelation made by Nancy. Sister Hilda takes the place of Sister Julienne who goes for an annual break from the Mother house.

Poplar house and Turner family are both seen in distress for seemingly different reasons. Meanwhile a very special baby is born, who causes a rift in a close-knit family and leads many people to count their blessings.

With the news of Cyril, who might have to go back home, one could be worried that he will be next to leave the show after the heartbreaking departure of Valerie Dyer. So many things have changed through, the season and many more changes are yet to come, as that was also one of the major premise of the show.
