New Netflix Movie “Fatherhood” Is a Guaranteed Tearjerker

Fatherhood Updates: Somebody is chopping onions! Kevin Hart plays a widowed new parent navigating life with a baby daughter in his latest film. Fatherhood, based on a true story, will launch on Netflix on Father’s Day weekend, June 18th.

The official trailer was released this week, and Hart expressed his excitement for the film on Instagram today. “I can’t wait for you to see how unique this one is. He wrote, “You guys are going to love it!!!!” with a small movie clip attached.

When you hear the name “Kevin Hart,” your mind immediately goes to his stand-up comedy and a slew of loud – and super-silly – films (think Jumanji, Think Like A Man, and Night School, to name but three).

Hart’s next Netflix project, on the other hand, seems to be rather different. Because Fatherhood, which is based on the heart-breaking true tale of Matthew Logelin, appears to be a rollercoaster of emotions from beginning to end.

The following is all you need to know about the impending sobfest.

For those who haven’t read Logelin’s bestselling book, Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love, Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love, Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love documents his grief and sudden single parenthood following the untimely death of his wife, Liz, 27 hours after the birth of the couple’s first child.

The film Fatherhood, based on the biography, continues the same route; Hart takes on the role of a mourning Matt and battles to raise his infant girl as a single father. He has to deal with critical mother-and-baby groups, unwanted counsel from worried relatives, and a torrent of inquiries from his inquisitive daughter.

He trains himself how to do her hair, make her giggle, and wipe her tears away. And he gives his young child two kisses every night: one for him, and one for his loving late wife.

What are the Opinions on Fatherhood?

Stylist

The trailer has received tremendously good feedback, with many complimenting the film for portraying single fathers in a favorable light. “This is the first trailer I’ve ever seen that made me cry. One comment underneath the trailer on YouTube says, “I’m so watching this.”

“Single fathers are undervalued by society. So, thank you for being super dads, all you single fathers out there.

“As a single parent who just sent his kid off at school, it can be challenging, but it’s always rewarding,” says another. I’ll have to keep an eye on this.”

“Being raised by my Dad when it was just him, this hurts home and makes me think of him,” says another. I’m delighted to see that more films are being created about single fathers who are doing everything they can to ensure their children’s safety, protection, and love.”

But it was a statement that best summed up the trailer’s atmosphere. “It’s you who’s sobbing, not me.”

As already said, Hart plays Matt, and Melody Hurd plays tiny Maddy opposite him. The all-star cast also includes Alfre Woodard, Deborah Ayorinde, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Anthony Carrigan, and Paul Reiser.
