Elizabeth is assigned as a teacher in Coal Valley, a small coal-mining town in Western Canada. Though the life of the town seemed simple but elizabeth was soon faced with challenges.

Elizabeth is liked by everyone in the town except Royal Northwest Mounted Police Constable Jack Thornton. Jack believes that the was assigned to this town only to protect the shipping magnate’s daughter. From there on the story revolves around how elizabeth tackles her everyday problems around the town.
