Cyberpunk 2077 Class Action Lawsuits Are Piling Up

Published by

Cyberpunk 2077 has been hit hard by the several class-action lawsuits being combined into one, allowing it to move onto the court proceedings. The objective of the case is on the state in which the game was launched and how CD Projekt Red misrepresented the quality of the game before the launch, leading to developments like Sony removing the game from its PlayStation store.

However, Cyberpunk 2077 is still being updated to this day and is working on getting better, but it’s a long way till the end of the tunnel for the game and they failed to deliver on its launch. PlayStation has not yet made any efforts to bring the game back to their digital store, which does affect revenue generation. Also taking into account how crucial are digital sales nowadays. The company has stated that it will relist the game whenever they feel it is in a better state. This is also one of the causes of class action lawsuits poured upon CDPR.

Cyberpunk 2077 Class Action Lawsuits Are Piling Up

Four class-action lawsuits were combined and it is made sure that the potential court proceedings can move forward. Two of the lawsuits were from the shareholders, which troubled the game’s launch and reputation with a 15% drop in share prices. Finances were hit hard and were likely not to be improved by CD Projekt Red is suing over $2million worth of Cyberpunk 2077 refunds in December. A suit from December claims that CDPR  wilfully neglected the mention of poor performance of the console version of the game, stating that Cyberpunk 2077 is “ virtually unplayable on the current – generation Xbox or PlayStation systems due to an enormous number of bugs”.

The CD Projekt Red avoided giving out review copies for Cyberpunk 2077 on the console until a few hours prior to the game’s launch, it seems likely that the company was trying the sweep the dust under the carpet into hiding the flaws of the game’s console version. Meanwhile, the PC version heaped praises and reviewers assumed that the console version would be on par with similarities on that of PC version in terms of quality, but too much disappointment, there was a huge difference which resulted in players calling out the game to be unworthy and said: “ they won’t play Cyberpunk 2077 until it’s fixed”.

So far there is no clear path on which CD Projekt could possibly have Cyberpunk 2077 in its best state. But with the lawsuits, it will be a tough battle for CD Projekt to recover its reputation.
