In Supernatural, Dean dies a total of 111 times. The trickster god, who murders him roughly 103 times during season 3, episode 11, “Mystery Spot,” when Dean and Sam are caught in a parallel universe, is responsible for the majority of those fatalities.

Onscreen, eleven of their deaths are depicted. Throughout the series, Dean is murdered eight more times, most of the time by otherworldly forces.

He is ripped apart by undead monsters, stabbed by Metatron, and poisoned by vampires in three of his most dramatic deaths. Dean also kills himself on multiple times in attempt to communicate with beings far beyond the veil, such as Death or his immortals.

The death toll does not include periods when people died. Dean is magically transported to some other realm by a portal or spiritual projection, and deaths in parallel realities weren’t included.

— “Death Takes a Vacation,” Season 4, Episode 15: Pamela “kills” Dean and Sam so that they can see immortals and avoid a seal from being breached.

— “The End,” Season 5, Episode 4: Lucifer, who is controlling Sam, breaks the neck of a fictional version of Dean.

— “Survival of the Fittest,” Season 7, Episode 23: After murdering Dick Roman, Dean and Castiel are dragged into Hell.

— “The Trap” and “The Heroes’ Journey,” Season 15, Episodes 9 and 10: Through his link with Chuck, Sam experiences images of parallel realities in which Dean falls at his hands. In one, Sam, who is fueled by demonic blood, snaps Dean’s neck. In some other, a Lucifer-possessed Sam is engulfed in flames.
