Outlander Season 6: Showrunner Matthew B Roberts on Release Date

Outlander Season 6 Updates Outlander has seen massive success since it first premiered in August 2014. The show already has five seasons in the run and considering the overwhelming response from both viewers and critics alike, it might be gearing up for a sixth.

The fantasy drama, produced by Maril Davis, is based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling novel series by the same name. The historical drama follows Claire Randall, a British Army nurse who served in World War II, as she is transported to 1743 where her life and freedom are threatened. In this new mysterious world, the already married Claire falls passionately in love with one Jamie Fraser and is caught between the two men in two different worlds.

Along with a new season in the franchise this year, Gabaldon would be releasing another book in the Outlander saga, titled ‘Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone,’ as well.

Answering questions asked by avid viewers of the show, Roberts explained that filming budget and actor availability are two of the key considerations while deciding what storyline they can follow. He revealed how a lot of over-the-top and ambitious moments from the original series had to be given up due to them being impossible to adapt on screen, budget-wise. He added that since the show has been running for so many years, a lot of actors move on to other projects or are simply not available, dictating whose story they can tell on the screen.

Thankfully, fan favorites Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Sophie Skelton, and Richard Rankin will be returning for the latest season which is based on the sixth book in the Outlander series, titled ‘A Breath of Snow and Ashes.’

Outlander is available to stream on Amazon Prime and STARZ.
