Love Death and Robots Season 3: Reason Behind Being Shorter

Love Death and Robots Season 3 Updates: Love, Death & Robots is an animated television series. The first season was released on March 15, 2019. Different crews from different countries have contributed to the animation of the series. The series was renewed in June 2019 by Netflix for a second season.

The average run time for each episode is 17 minutes. Sixteen episodes out of a total of eighteen episodes are adaptations from short stories. The trailer for the first season came out on February 14, 2019. The show is rated 8.5 on IMDb and has won various awards including Emmy. The show is produced by David Fincher and Tim Miller (Deadpool director).

Season 2 has half the number of episodes as compared to Season 1. There is a number of possibilities why Netflix decided to cut the number of episodes. Season 2 has an average runtime of 4-15 minutes per episode.

Love Death and Robots Season 3: Release Date

Season 1 consisted of 18 episodes which were full of Sci-Fi, horror, and comedy. This led to increased expectations of fans from Season 2 but, to their disappointment, there are only 8 episodes in Season 2. Less number of episodes means the variety of genres explored are less compared to that of its first season. We can guess a number of reasons for why Netflix did this.

One factor may be the 26-month gap between the two seasons. The trailer for Season 3 has already been released. Netflix has chosen a lower number of episodes so that the gap between seasons can be reduced and this will also lead to more audience engagement. The same has been done by Netflix for other shows also like Voltron: Legendary Defender.

The other thing which can be said with Season 3 on boards is that it is possible that Season 2 was split up into two parts. This was maybe done because of the delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are no official updates on the release of Love Death and Robots Season 3. If the theory behind Season 2 getting split up is right then, we can expect it to get released by the beginning of 2022. If Season 2 performs well then, we can also expect to see Season 4 of the show. There’s one benefit of seasons being shorter that we’ll have to wait for less for the upcoming installments.
